Path to Light
By integrating natural elements, our hostel in Beijing doubles as a unique tourist destination.
Water, symbolizing Beijing’s struggle with agricultural challenges, takes center stage alongside the cave and moon motifs.
Inside, a cave-like ambiance is created with an artificial waterfall and cave-inspired walls, enhancing guests' experience and minimizing noise.
This juxtaposition of nature's elements against the backdrop of a former factory adds a touch of irony.
Despite its distance from popular tourist spots, Path of Light enjoys strong ties with the local community, thanks to its proximity to parks and rivers.

By incorporating natural elements into the site, it transforms into both a hostel and a new tourist destination in Beijing. Among these natural elements, the cave, the moon, and particularly water are the most significant.
Water holds a special place in Beijing due to the historical agricultural challenges faced by the city. To highlight the soothing sound of water, a cave-like ambiance has been created indoors. An artificial waterfall has been installed, accompanied by a cave-inspired design wall. This setup not only offers guests a unique experience but also reduces ambient noise. Water is strategically concentrated in specific areas to enhance its auditory impact and also serves an aesthetic purpose by creating reflections and glows. The cave design contributes to a feeling of shelter and aligns to achieve a dramatic water effect. These natural elements introduce a striking contrast to the site's original function as a factory. Although it is situated away from major tourist attractions, its proximity to a park fosters strong connections with the local community and nearby rivers.
Regarding material choices, the rooms feature capsule beds, catering to the primary clientele of the hostel. Additionally, the space includes an exhibition area dedicated to showcasing the work of local artists, reflecting the area's artistic character, and incorporating tiles inspired by traditional Chinese patterns.
