Screen on Wheels:

Aiming to enhance the user experience of the NYC subway system, this project explores the complex relationship among passengers, the subway car interior, and movement through space and time.

Based on the journey of an in-depth analysis of MTA station design, crowd dynamics, and accessibility, this study aims to celebrate crucial thresholds affecting user experience.

Based on the study of a user traversing the subway system, this study aims to utilize video and projection within the subway car as virtual thresholds in reaction to specific moments along one’s journey.

By extending the investigation to include unique aspects of public cinematic exhibitions, this study also seeks to provide comprehensive insights into nonverbal communications.

Given the rapid evolution of video media-sharing methods, the study further aims to suggest a unified approach to sharing and
employing video content within public environments.

The findings will produce recommendations for enhancing subway design and operations, contributing to a more culturally engaging journey for the diverse community of New York City.

It all started in the subway, daydreaming.

As a city-loving artist, I am constantly influenced by how we adjust our lifestyles as technology advances.
Since the city is one of the most representative places where technological development in human society can be demonstrated and experienced more vividly than in any other place,
I have been thinking about how public art can survive and better communicate with people in the development of constant changes in the form of our lifestyle.
As a member of current society, experiencing both the advances of the contact-free era and living in the post-COVID era, it is proven how the disconnection between people impacts how people consume public art.
I am starting this investigation in the hope that art will remain available to everyone and continuously work as a tool to connect and communicate with society.
